Bitcoin Plunges Below $60K: Signs Emerge of Emerging Cycle Bottom
Bitcoin (BTC) plummeted below $60,000, marking its most severe monthly decline since June 2022. The asset's year-to-date performance has been dismal, with a 33% loss in value compared to the S&P 500's gain of over 9%. U.S.-listed Bitcoin spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have experienced their eighth consecutive week of net outflows, with a total of $4 billion withdrawn in June alone.
MicroStrategy secured $1 billion in funding for cash reserves rather than additional bitcoin purchases. Analyst Ali Charts pointed out that the number of Bitcoin units trading below their acquisition cost has surpassed those held at profit, a historical indicator suggesting an emerging cycle bottom. Barchart noted that Bitcoin settled beneath its 200-week moving average for the first time since 2023.
