Trump Threatens Military Strikes on Iran if Deal Fails
US President Donald Trump has put military strikes back on the table in case negotiations with Iran collapse, warning that a 'full, large-scale assault' could be launched at short notice. This comes as a deal covering Iran's nuclear program and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz is close to completion.
The Strait of Hormuz is a critical waterway through which roughly one-fifth of the world's oil supply passes. A disruption to this route would have significant implications for global energy markets, including crude prices and inflation expectations.
Earlier strikes on Iranian facilities in February resulted in over $701 million in liquidations across crypto markets as traders scrambled to unwind leveraged long positions. This highlights the risk of leverage in uncertain environments and the potential for market volatility in response to geopolitical tensions.
