Telegram Scammers Use Hotel Brands as Guise for Cryptocurrency Scheme

Telegram has become a breeding ground for scams, with users being targeted by fake job offers that promise quick cash in exchange for online work. The scammers use names such as 'Sharon Roberts' and 'Victoria Castillo' to gain the trust of their targets, who are then instructed to set up a cryptocurrency wallet to receive payments.

The hotel brands used by the scammers, including DoubleTree by Hilton, Ibis Budget, and Travelodge, have no affiliation with the scammers. According to a report by The Guardian, this scheme is part of a broader money laundering and fraud operation that uses tiny crypto payments to mask funds.

Once victims are lured into the scheme, they are introduced to 'business tasks' that require them to send their own money in exchange for a promised quick return. However, the returns never materialize, leaving the victims with financial losses.
