BlackRock's IBIT Attracts New Wave of Investors, 75% Are Crypto-Natives
The recent launch of BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) has brought to light an unexpected trend in investor behavior. According to reports, a staggering 75% of IBIT investors had never owned a traditional ETF before.
This revelation challenges the long-held narrative that spot Bitcoin ETFs would primarily serve as a gateway for traditional investors entering crypto. Instead, it suggests that many crypto-native investors are using $BTC ETFs as their first step into broader financial markets.
The data also shows that nearly 30% of IBIT buyers have expanded into other investment products, including S&P 500 Index Funds and Gold ETFs. This trend indicates that Bitcoin is becoming a gateway asset for mainstream investing, with investors increasingly combining digital assets with traditional portfolio diversification.
