Ethereum Foundation Advances Glamsterdam Upgrade Plans with Key Milestones Achieved
The Ethereum Foundation has made significant strides in its Glamsterdam upgrade plans, bringing the project one step closer to launch. Expected to arrive sometime during Q3 2026, this major update promises a substantial increase in gas limit floor from around 60 million to 200 million, with the goal of significantly enhancing network throughput and scalability.
The recent milestones achieved by developers include the finalization of enshrined Proposer-Builder Separation (ePBS), which enables validators to outsource block construction. This process is now more directly integrated into Ethereum's core protocol rules.
Additionally, EIP-8037 has been finalized - an improvement proposal aimed at creating smarter pricing for blockchain data storage and reducing risks tied to excessive network state growth under higher gas limits.
