Bitcoin Breaks $79K Barrier Amid Short Squeeze and Geopolitical Tensions
The cryptocurrency market has experienced a significant surge in recent days, with Bitcoin leading the charge. According to data from CoinMarketCap, the global market capitalization of cryptocurrencies has reached $2.63 trillion, a 3.16% increase over the past 224 hours.
Bitcoin's price has fluctuated between $74,822 and $79,328 in the past 24 hours, with its current value at $79,200, representing a 4.70% gain. The majority of major cryptocurrencies by market capitalization are trading mixed, with CHIP, MET, and SPK experiencing significant gains of 556%, 32%, and 18%, respectively.
The breakout above $79,000 highlights strong momentum driven by short liquidation, improved sentiment, and increasing institutional participation. However, risks persist due to the temporary extension of the Iran ceasefire, which has heightened geopolitical uncertainty and made markets sensitive to escalation.
