Trump Family Taps Presidential Posts for $143K Monthly Fee
The Trump family's latest effort to monetize Donald Trump's second term in the White House involves charging investors $143,000 per month for instant access to his social media posts on Truth Social. This plan is part of a real-time data feed via APIs that would give subscribers earlier access to Trump's posts than non-subscribers.
The data feed could be hugely profitable for hedge funds, Wall Street banks, algorithmic traders, and wealthy private investors due to the significant market movements caused by Trump's posts. During the war in the Middle East, his posts have moved markets, including the price of oil, shares, and bonds.
Institutional traders couldn't afford not to pay up to get early access to Trump's Truth Social posts. The company, Trump Media & Technology Group, has a 41% shareholding by Donald Trump and has diversified into cryptocurrencies and financial services, with plans to spin out Truth Social ahead of a merger.
The plan to allow Trump Media to profit from the presidency offers a lifeline for the company, which has lost about 90% of its share market value since its launch. The proposed monetization of Trump's social media posts could generate hundreds of millions or even billions of dollars per year for the beleaguered company.
