Uzbekistan Enshrines Crypto Mining with Besqala Zone Regulations

The Uzbek government has solidified its commitment to cryptocurrency mining by establishing regulations for the Besqala Mining Valley, a special zone dedicated to the activity.

The National Agency for Perspective Projects (NAPP) approved the regulations on July 8 after a public consultation period that began in May. The document outlines operational procedures, including requirements for resident registration and the use of multiple energy sources such as renewable power and hydrogen plants.

The Besqala Mining Valley will cover the entire territory of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, allowing residents to engage in cryptocurrency mining operations using electricity from various sources. The regulations also specify procedures for registering applications, issuing resident registration certificates, and regulating compliance with licensing requirements.
