White House Rejects Pardon Bid from Convicted FTX Founder Sam Bankman-Fried
The White House has officially rejected a pardon bid from Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of FTX, amid his attempts to curry favor with U.S. President Donald Trump through social media campaigns.
Bankman-Fried was convicted of seven counts of fraud and sentenced to 25 years in prison in March 2024 after it was revealed that he had channeled customer funds to Alameda Research, a sister company of FTX, for personal gain.
Trump pardoned Binance's CEO Changpeng 'CZ' Zhao last year, leading some to speculate about the possibility of Bankman-Fried receiving similar treatment. However, a White House spokesperson confirmed that Trump has no intention of offering any relief to the convicted crypto founder.
