Farage Faces Probe Over Undisclosed Support from Convicted Crypto Aide
Nigel Farage, the leader of Reform UK, is facing an investigation after it was revealed that his former aide and convicted criminal George Cottrell provided him with undisclosed support. According to The Times, Cottrell funded staff, security, and housing for Farage before his election.
Cottrell, also known as 'Posh George,' has a history of high-stakes gambling and has lost millions of pounds. He was recently the subject of an investigation by The Times that detailed his relationships with Farage and billionaire Reform donor Christopher Harborne.
The Liberal Democrat MP Josh Babarinde referred Farage to the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, requesting an investigation into the undeclared support. Reform UK claims no rules were broken, stating that Cottrell's support was in a 'purely personal capacity.'
However, The Times reported pictures of Reform business cards bearing Cotrell's name, suggesting his support for Farage went beyond personal ties.
