Zano's Hard Fork 6 Activates Next Month with Exchange-Friendly Upgrades

Zano's Hard Fork 6 (HF6) is set to activate between August 25 and 27, 2026, at block height 3,833,000. This upgrade aims to connect ZANO with broader exchange listings and DeFi liquidity pools by introducing Gateway Addresses, a new account-based address type designed for exchanges, decentralized exchanges, bridges, and other infrastructure providers.

Gateway Addresses will give services a directly tracked balance and faster sync, making it easier to connect with native ZANO and Confidential Assets without disrupting existing private address functionality for regular users. This upgrade is expected to make a significant difference in Zano's adoption by removing the main barrier to exchange listings and liquidity pool access.

The updated wallet is already available, and operators have roughly eight weeks to complete the necessary upgrades ahead of the activation window. HF6 also includes security and reliability improvements such as stronger wallet-file encryption, per-output payment IDs for cleaner exchange and merchant accounting, safer encryption and decryption RPCs for developers, and P2P denial-of-service hardening with SOCKS5 proxy support.
