Ethereum Foundation Bolsters DeFi Efforts with New Protocol Support Unit
The Ethereum Foundation has made a significant move to strengthen its focus on decentralized finance (DeFi) by establishing a new unit within its App Relations team.
This new DeFi-focused division will be responsible for supporting early-stage protocol design, research, and builder support. The goal is to promote the development of crypto-native DeFi protocols that adhere to values such as permissionlessness, censorship-resistance, self-custody, and openness.
The team has outlined its vision in a public statement, emphasizing the importance of staying true to these principles. To achieve this, they will be working closely with developers and other stakeholders to advance research in protocol security and application design.
One notable addition to the DeFi unit is Charles St. Louis, former CEO of DELV and governance architect at MakerDAO, who joins as DeFi Protocol Specialist. Ivan, co-founder of Gearbox Protocol, takes on the role of DeFi Coordinator.
