Ethereum Emerges as Leader in On-Chain AI Agents

The Ethereum network has been expanding its capabilities beyond Decentralized Finance (DeFi) and into Artificial Intelligence (AI) innovation.

A recent report indicates that the blockchain is becoming a hub for on-chain AI agents, with a significant lead over other major chains. This shift in focus is driven by the growing demand for autonomous, revenue-generating AI systems.

The data shows that Ethereum currently hosts 27,315 AI agents, which is 40% more than the chain in second spot. Other chains such as Base, Monad, MegaETH, and BNB Smart Chain have significantly fewer AI agents, with numbers ranging from 6,689 to 19,499.

The infrastructure of Ethereum's Layer 2, including Base, Arbitrum, Scroll, Linea, and MegaETH, accounts for the vast majority of on-chain AI agents. According to Leon Waidmann, a data analyst and head of research at Lisk, these agents live where the liquidity is, where smart contracts are battle-tested, and where the network effects are strongest.

Bitmine's emergence as a pioneer in the transition from moving information to moving value has also contributed to Ethereum's growth in AI innovation. With its staking and validation network, MAVAN, the company is poised to support external capital and bolster its assets.
