Russia-linked Plot Targets UK PM with Crypto-Funded Arson
A Ukrainian man was offered thousands of dollars worth of Tether ($USDT) to firebomb properties belonging to UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, according to reports.
The plot was allegedly orchestrated by a Russian-based Telegram user known as 'El Money,' who offered the attacker £3,000 in $USDT on the condition that it made national news.
The attacks were carried out by 22-year-old Roman Lavrynovych and 27-year-old Stanislav Carpiuc, who were convicted of conspiracy to commit arson. They set fire to Starmer's old car, an Islington flat he previously owned, and a property rented by his sister.
The BBC suspects that 'El Money' is actually Evgeny Lyukshin, 23-year-old Russian diplomat and son of a senior official. Lyukshin was reportedly trained in information warfare.
