OCC Comptroller Denies Trump Influence Amid Pressure Over Crypto Charter

The Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), Jonathan Gould, has faced scrutiny over his handling of a national trust charter application from World Liberty Financial, a company tied to Donald Trump's family financial interests.

During a hearing with the House Financial Services Committee, Representative Gregory Meeks accused Gould of being 'Trump's fixer' and pressured him to hold World Liberty to the same standards as other companies seeking an OCC charter.

Gould denied any influence from the president and claimed that only Democrats are pressuring him to approve or give special consideration to World Liberty's application. He stated that he has felt pressure only from Democratic lawmakers, excluding his Senate colleagues.
