Ctrl Wallet, a multi-chain non-custodial wallet that once supported over 2,500 blockchains, has announced its permanent shutdown on August 3, 2026. The decision follows a security exploit discovered on June 23 targeting select Cardano-related wallets.
The team behind Ctrl Wallet chose to shut down the entire operation instead of attempting to patch the vulnerability. By July 7, the app and browser extensions had been removed from app stores, leaving users with a countdown clock to withdraw their funds.
No token migration, airdrops, refunds, or compensation will be offered after the shutdown. Users are warned to be vigilant about potential scams and phishing attempts promising to rescue stranded assets.
