AI Assisted Recovery of Lost Bitcoin Worth Rs 3.8 Crore After 11 Years

A recent case has demonstrated the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in recovering lost cryptocurrency assets. A trader, who wished to remain anonymous, used Claude AI to recover access to their Bitcoin wallet, which had been locked away for over 11 years.

The wallet originally held Bitcoin purchased for around $1,250 in the past and was worth close to $400,000 at current prices. The user's misfortune began when they changed the wallet password while under the influence of a substance, causing them to forget it completely.

Crypto wallets from that era worked differently compared to modern setups, relying on passwords along with seed phrases and storing additional private keys separately. In this case, the password protecting the wallet file was lost, rendering the Bitcoin inside inaccessible.

The user attempted several recovery methods, including brute-force attempts using password recovery tools, but nothing worked until they uploaded old files from their college computer into Claude AI as a last resort. The AI system successfully sorted through the data and identified an issue in the recovery setup that had been preventing the wallet from being decrypted properly.

Once this issue was resolved, the recovery tool managed to open the wallet file, and the user regained access to their Bitcoin. This case highlights the practical use of AI outside of chatbot conversations and its potential in solving complex problems related to cryptocurrency security.
