$5 Million Agreement Tied to President Milei's Promotion of LIBRA
A judicial investigation into the collapse of the LIBRA cryptocurrency in Argentina has uncovered a potentially damaging element for President Javier Milei.
According to a draft recovered from businessman Mauricio Novelli's phone, an alleged $5 million agreement was made in exchange for presidential backing for the project. The document outlines a payment plan that includes $1.5 million advance payments and a further $2 million for advisory work related to blockchain or artificial intelligence for the Argentine government and/or Milei.
The recovered draft was written between October and November 2024, before Hayden Davis, the businessman linked to the crypto venture, traveled to Argentina. The timing of the document overlaps with events that later became part of the broader scandal surrounding LIBRA's collapse.
