Ethereum Glamsterdam Upgrade Boosts Network Capacity and Reduces Transaction Costs
The Ethereum network has undergone a major upgrade, known as Glamsterdam, which aims to improve its scalability, efficiency, and future-proofing. This significant update boosts the blockchain's overall capacity by tripling its ability to process transactions on-chain.
One of the key features of the Glamsterdam upgrade is the increased block gas limit from 60 million to 200 million, making it easier for users to execute smart contracts related to DeFi and NFTs without incurring high fees. The network's processing capacity has been significantly improved, reducing congestion and subsequent fee increases.
The Ethereum community has welcomed this upgrade with open arms, as it is expected to have a positive impact on the ecosystem. With the Glamsterdam upgrade now live, the ETH crypto price has seen a notable increase, rising by 2.11% in a day and 14% in a month. The trading volume has also surged by 145%, reaching $17.71 billion.
Notably, the Glamsterdam upgrade is not just a minor update but a significant step towards preparing the network for its next phase of scaling. It introduces Verkle Trees and state pruning, which reduce the amount of data validator nodes need to store. This reduction in data storage requirements will aid in maintaining the decentralization of the blockchain.
