Binance CEO Baffles Over EU Licensing Delays Amid Aggressive Asia Expansion

Binance co-Chief Executive Officer Richard Teng expressed confusion over the repeated delays in securing an operating license under the EU's MiCA regulatory framework. Despite withdrawing its application in Greece, Binance is pursuing authorization in another EU member state.

Teng signaled an aggressive strategy to expand operations across Asia, citing recent expansion into the Philippines through a partnership with local fintech firm Blockshoals Technologies. 'We are in close discussions with the regulator in the country that encouraged us to apply for a license,' he stated.

Binance's regulatory challenges persist in the EU as it faces a broader crypto market downturn. However, Teng remains bullish on the long-term outlook for the sector, pointing to growing institutional interest in crypto assets.
