Khamenei Funeral Procession Unfolds Amid Ongoing Iran Conflict
The funeral procession for Iranian leader Ali Khamenei has begun in Tehran's Mosalla prayer hall, marking one of the largest state funerals in the country's history. The ceremony is part of a multi-city procession that will take place from July 4 to July 9 and will include stops in Qom, Iraq's Najaf and Karbala, and Iran's holiest city, Mashhad.
Khamenei was killed on February 28 during US-Israeli airstrikes that launched the 2026 Iran war. His death was confirmed on March 1, triggering a volatile trading window for crypto traders. Bitcoin initially dipped after the news of the airstrikes but rebounded above $68,000 shortly after Khamenei's death was confirmed.
The market's response suggests investors are pricing in the possibility of de-escalation now that the leadership vacuum is established. However, a leadership transition in the middle of an active military conflict introduces significant uncertainty that will likely keep crypto volatility elevated.
