The Pudgy Penguins team has decided to discontinue development on its mobile game Pudgy Party, citing a shift in focus towards its browser-based platform Pudgy World. Despite achieving over 1 million downloads since its release in August 2025, the decision was made to concentrate efforts on the more scalable and user-friendly browser experience.

The team acknowledged the difficulty of this decision but emphasized that Pudgy World offers superior opportunities for expansion and user acquisition. The move reflects the broader organizational realignment of the Pudgy Penguins franchise, which has been diversifying its operations beyond digital collectibles into physical merchandise, intellectual property licensing, media production, and interactive entertainment.

Pudgy Party is not an isolated case in the Web3 gaming shutdown trend. Fishing Frenzy, another Web3 gaming title, announced its closure along with developer Uncharted, citing an inability to prove their crypto gaming thesis and find a sustainable product-market-business fit.
