Nobitex Exposed: Iranian Cryptocurrency Exchange Linked to Sanctions-Evasion Machinery
Nobitex, an Iranian cryptocurrency exchange, has been accused of being involved in the country's sanctions-evasion machinery. According to a report by Crystal Intelligence, Nobitex has processed billions of dollars in transactions, including those involving sanctioned entities such as the Central Bank of Iran and the IRGC.
The report found that some of these transactions were routed through Nobitex after a series of transactions, making it difficult to track the source of the funds. This has allowed sanctioned entities to bypass Western financial sanctions.
Nobitex has also been accused of being used by Iran's government and security agencies to bypass Western financial sanctions. The company has denied any involvement with the government, but its employees have confirmed that they were aware of the exchange's use by the government and its security agencies.
