AWS Enables Autonomous AI Agents with USDC Micropayment Support

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has recently announced the introduction of AgentCore Payments, a module designed to enable autonomous AI agents to make micropayments using the USDC stablecoin. This feature is integrated into the Amazon Bedrock platform, which is aimed at developers building autonomous AI agents for enterprise use.

The integration of Coinbase's payment infrastructure and the x402 protocol allows companies to deploy agents capable of using USDC for micropayments across the Base and Solana blockchains. This solution addresses one of the main obstacles to adopting autonomous AI agents in enterprise environments, which is legal and financial restrictions.

AgentCore Payments enables micropayments through a single API call, handling wallet authentication, transaction signing, and payment processing without exposing private keys to the agents. Developers can also define time-based spending limits for agents, ensuring that transactions are screened for financial risks and sanctions compliance.
