Swiss Banks Collaborate on Stablecoin Sandbox Initiative
A group of seven Swiss financial institutions has launched a collaborative project to test the use cases of a Swiss franc stablecoin. The sandbox environment, which will be conducted in 2026, will allow participating banks to experiment with digital payment methods in a secure and controlled setting.
The initiative is led by UBS, PostFinance, Sygnum Bank, Raiffeisen Schweiz, Zürcher Kantonalbank, Banque Cantonale Vaudoise, and Swiss Stablecoin AG. The project will provide the issuance infrastructure for the stablecoin, with the aim of building experience in handling digital payment methods.
The sandbox is open to other banks, companies, and institutions that want to participate in testing the use cases of the Swiss franc stablecoin. This collaborative effort marks the latest step in the development of blockchain-based financial applications in Switzerland.
