Bitcoin Price Plummets Over 4%, Cryptocurrency Stocks Suffer
Bitcoin's price continues to fluctuate wildly, with a significant drop of over 4% on Friday taking its value down to $65,699. This marks the lowest point for Bitcoin in over two weeks and has left investors concerned about the cryptocurrency's future.
The decline in Bitcoin's price is partly attributed to the expiration of Bitcoin options worth around $14 billion. These options are a type of financial instrument that gives traders the right, but not the obligation, to buy or sell Bitcoin at a predetermined price before a certain date.
Cryptocurrency-related stocks also suffered losses on Friday, with Coinbase shares falling by more than 7%. MicroStrategy, another major player in the cryptocurrency space, saw its stock decline by nearly 6%.
