Crypto Firms Push US Universities to Emphasize Decentralized Finance Education

A coalition of 21 cryptocurrency companies has written an open letter to US universities, calling for the inclusion of decentralized finance (DeFi) in their business and legal curricula.

The signatories, which include Solana Policy Institute, Blockchain Association, and Aave, argue that DeFi expertise is now sought after by Wall Street firms beyond just technical roles. They point to recent job listings from major financial institutions, such as BlackRock and JPMorgan, which highlight the growing demand for DeFi professionals.

The group emphasizes that existing blockchain courses often focus on theoretical aspects, without providing practical engagement with live DeFi systems. The letter calls for foundational instruction in areas like blockchain architecture, automated market makers, and decentralized autonomous organizations.
