Kevin O'Leary, a well-known investor and TV personality, has made a prediction about the future of cryptocurrency. According to him, the next big thing in crypto will be a blockchain that integrates with at least one S&P 500 company in each of the 11 sectors.
O'Leary believes that this could lead to parabolic growth for the associated crypto asset, but notes that there are several hurdles that need to be overcome before this can happen. One major challenge is the lack of legal clarity surrounding the use of blockchain technology by S&P 500 companies.
Additionally, O'Leary highlights that the industry in the United States continues to operate in a grey area without the passage of the Clarity Act, a proposed federal regulation aimed at legalizing crypto assets. Furthermore, major Wall Street firms are hesitant to enter the Web3 space due to concerns about security standards.
However, if a blockchain can introduce enhanced security standards and navigate the regulatory landscape, it could be well-positioned for success. O'Leary remains bullish on Bitcoin and Ethereum despite their recent drawdowns, but believes that most other crypto assets are 'dead' following the October 2025 capitulation event.
