Algorand Cracks Down on Quantum Threats with 2027 Deadline
Algorand, a Proof-of-Stake blockchain network, has announced plans to become quantum-resistant by the end of 2027. This move comes as concerns about post-quantum threats rise in the crypto space.
The Algorand team believes that the quantum threat is a serious risk to the security of blockchain technology and has outlined a roadmap detailing its efforts, plans, progress, milestones, and ongoing research in post-quantum cryptography (PQC).
Algorand was recently identified by Google Quantum AI as one of the smart-contract platforms that can achieve PQC. The network executed its first PQC-secured transaction in 2025 and aims to complete the full PQC transition in less than two years.
