Lombard Migrates Billions in Assets Amid Security Concerns
Lombard Finance's decision to migrate its assets is a significant development in the DeFi ecosystem, highlighting concerns over security and the need for robust cross-chain infrastructure.
The platform has chosen Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) due to its stronger guarantees and decentralized architecture. This move follows an April 2026 exploit that drained $292 million from KelpDAO's rsETH product, which relied on LayerZero-based bridge infrastructure.
Chainlink recently completed a SOC 2 Type 2 examination for CCIP, demonstrating the protocol's compliance certification typically associated with enterprise cloud providers and financial infrastructure companies. This certification has contributed to Chainlink-related total value locked exceeding $4 billion.
