Trump's Crypto Venture Pays UFC Fighters in Stablecoin Amid UAE Ties Probe
President Trump's crypto venture, World Liberty Financial, has been in the spotlight due to its ties with the UAE. The company paid out $250,000 in USD1 stablecoin bonuses to UFC fighters on the South Lawn of the White House during the UFC Freedom 250 event.
The event seemed like a sports sponsorship, but it's more complex than that. World Liberty Financial's USD1 stablecoin has grown to over $5 billion in market cap since its launch in March 2025 and is available on multiple chains including Ethereum, BNB Chain, Tron, and Solana.
The UAE connection behind USD1 is worth noting. A UAE firm linked to Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan acquired a 49% stake in World Liberty Financial for $500 million. This has raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest and national security risks.
