Hyperliquid's Valuation Gap with Uniswap Raises Questions

Hyperliquid and Uniswap are two prominent decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols that have garnered significant attention in recent years. A comparison of their fee generation and valuation highlights a striking disparity between the two. Despite generating similar fees, Hyperliquid is valued at around $40 billion, ten times more than Uniswap's $3 to $4 billion valuation.

According to Token Terminal data, both protocols have generated roughly the same amount in fees over the past 180 days, sitting around $400 million each. However, when it comes to their fully diluted market cap, Hyperliquid stands at an astonishing $38 to $40 billion, while Uniswap is valued at a mere $3 to $4 billion.

The difference lies not only in the valuation but also in how the fees are captured and distributed. Hyperliquid's revenue model captures more value at the protocol level than Uniswap's does, allowing it to generate significantly higher revenue despite similar fee generation.
