White House Tries to Resolve Clarity Act Loopholes Amid Law Enforcement Concerns

The White House has been meeting with law enforcement groups to address concerns over the Clarity Act, a proposed piece of legislation aimed at providing clearer legal definitions for digital assets and decentralized finance protocols.

According to sources, the discussions center around Section 604 of the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act (BRCA), which is seen as a safeguard for DeFi development by exempting developers from being treated as money transmitters if they don't directly operate or control it.

However, groups such as the National Sheriffs' Association have expressed opposition to this provision, arguing that it could grant overly broad exemptions to mixers, tumblers, and DeFi services.

The White House's outreach is also seen as a push to strengthen support for the bill in Washington, where the Clarity Act is being framed as one of the most closely watched pieces of crypto legislation this year.
