SBI Holdings Bolsters SE Asian Presence with Coinhako Acquisition
SBI Holdings has expanded its digital asset presence in Southeast Asia after acquiring a majority stake in Singapore-based cryptocurrency exchange Coinhako. The acquisition was completed on July 16, following approval from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
Coinhako brings over 400,000 users under SBI's corporate structure, strengthening its regulated presence across Southeast Asia.
The deal is part of SBI's growing digital asset strategy in the region, which includes plans to connect Japan and Southeast Asia through tokenization and digital asset services. This will support regulated crypto adoption and tokenization use cases.
