A leading figure in the crypto industry has spoken out against the use of centralized blockchain architectures, which he believes undermine the very principles of cryptocurrency.

Cyber Capital founder Justin Bons argues that fully decentralized networks are essential for maintaining the integrity and security of a blockchain. He notes that permissioned systems, such as those used by Ripple's XRP and Stellar, rely on trust in designated actors rather than token-based economic incentives.

The use of permissioned systems can offer performance efficiencies and regulatory alignment, but critics argue that they sacrifice key characteristics such as censorship resistance, credible neutrality, and immutability. Bons maintains that these trade-offs are not acceptable and that the crypto community should reject centralized blockchain architectures.
