Crypto-Backed Candidates Secure Wins in US Primaries
Crypto industry-backed candidates have made strides in the US primaries, securing victories in several key districts. According to reports, the investment of nearly $3.5 million by Protect Progress and Defend American Jobs PACs has been instrumental in their success.
The winning candidates, including Jacqui Irwin, Ted Lieu, and Zoe Lofgren, have demonstrated a commitment to the crypto community through their voting records or public advocacy. This is particularly significant given the industry's growing influence on global markets.
With the US needing members of Congress who can develop responsible regulations for the crypto community, Fairshake has been actively supporting candidates with this goal in mind. The group announced a $193 million budget in January, signifying their commitment to this cause.
Moving forward, Fairshake and its affiliates are focusing on elections in Maryland, where Protect Progress has already spent over $3.1 million to support Democratic candidate Adrian Boafo. Additionally, industry leaders have formed a new hybrid PAC called Defend Developers, which will specialize in supporting politicians who protect blockchain developers and crypto creators.
