Nigel Farage's Russian Hack Claim Disputed by Cyber Security Expert
Nigel Farage's recent claim that a Russian hack was behind the disclosure of his £5 million gift from crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne has been disputed by a former head of the National Cyber Security Centre.
Professor Ciaran Martin, who previously headed the GCHQ agency, stated on LinkedIn that senior figures in public life should not make unsubstantiated claims about foreign state hacking. He emphasized that for such claims to be taken seriously, technical evidence and the name of the company conducting the analysis should be published.
Farage's claim suggests that 'hostile state actors' linked to Moscow used 'spear phishing' tactics to compromise his phone, email, and bank accounts. However, Martin's comments suggest that this claim is unsubstantiated until further evidence emerges.
