Ethereum Security Initiative Recovers $5.8M, Flags State-Linked Operatives
The Ethereum Foundation's six-month security initiative, ETH Rangers Program, has made significant strides in enhancing the resilience of the Ethereum ecosystem.
Launched in partnership with industry groups, the program focused on independent security research and incident response across Web3 projects. This endeavor led to the recovery or freezing of over $5.8 million in funds and the identification of hundreds of vulnerabilities, including client bugs and proof-of-concept exploits.
The initiative also flagged approximately 100 suspected North Korean operatives embedded within blockchain projects under false identities, underscoring the growing concern around state-linked threat groups targeting crypto firms through employment channels.
