Ripple Burns Nearly 10 Million RLUSD Stablecoins on Ethereum Chain
Ripple, a San Francisco-based blockchain behemoth, has burned nearly 10 million RLUSD stablecoins on the Ethereum chain.
The transaction, which took place around an hour ago, is part of Ripple's efforts to manage the supply of its stablecoin. This move follows previous minting and burning transactions, where significant amounts of RLUSD were added or removed from circulation.
According to data from the RL Tracker account on X, Ripple has been actively managing the supply of its stablecoin in recent days. On March 31, Ripple minted a staggering 79 million RLUSD on the XRP Ledger, followed by the removal of nearly half of this amount from circulation. The burning of almost 10 million RLUSD is likely an effort to balance the supply and demand of the stablecoin.
The burning of RLUSD tokens involves locking them in an unspendable wallet, effectively removing them from circulation. This move has significant implications for the crypto market, as it can impact the value and stability of other cryptocurrencies.
