Investor Participation in Crypto Funding Rounds Hits Six-Year Low
Crypto venture activity has continued to narrow in 2026 as investor participation reached a six-year low, according to CryptoRank's latest findings. The number of unique investors participating in crypto funding rounds declined significantly from previous cycle highs, dropping to 651 during the second quarter of 2026.
This represents a sharp decline from the record high of 2,564 investors recorded in 2022 and is only surpassed by the period in 2020 when quarterly investor participation ranged between 250 and 450. The data suggests that the venture market is becoming increasingly concentrated among a smaller group of specialized investors.
The monthly figures also indicate weak and uneven investor participation over the past year, with some brief recoveries and rejections. In September 2025, for example, the number of unique investors stood at 436, increasing to 451 in October before dropping to 316 in November.
