US Government Transfers Seized Bitcoin to Coinbase
The US Marshals Service has transferred 8.2 Bitcoin worth $606,000 to Coinbase Prime, sparking concerns among cryptocurrency enthusiasts about a potential government sell-off.
However, experts point out that this move is part of routine asset management, not a sudden liquidation.
The transfer is significant because it involves Bitcoin seized from Bitfinex hacker Ilya Lichtenstein. But blockchain trackers confirmed that the wallets involved in the transfer are consistent with standard government procedure, rather than a signal for a sale.
