BlackRock Expands Tokenized Treasury Fund Initiative on Ethereum
BlackRock has made a significant announcement regarding its tokenized treasury fund initiative on the Ethereum platform.
The company has expanded its BUIDL initiative, which allows for the creation of ERC-20 tokens representing shares in its $7 billion Select Treasury-Based Liquidity Fund. This move marks a key development in the adoption of digital asset tokenization and highlights the growing importance of public blockchain networks as a means of securities settlement.
The use of ERC-20 tokens enables easy integration with existing decentralized finance (DeFi) infrastructures, reducing distribution difficulties and increasing transparency. BNY Mellon will serve as the custodian, handling the real share register on-chain while maintaining traditional custody standards.
