Bitfire Reports Substantial Loss Amid Stablecoin Push
Bitfire, a Hong Kong-based cryptocurrency firm, has announced a substantial net loss of up to HK$245 million for the first half of 2026. This is nearly 19 times larger than the company's loss in the same period last year.
The loss is primarily due to a decline in the value of Bitfire's held crypto assets, which amounts to HK$152 million. Additionally, rising expenses related to professional services, customer capabilities, and research and development have contributed to the shortfall.
Despite this significant loss, Bitfire is accelerating its stablecoin push. The company has emphasized that stablecoins are a 'core pillar' of Hong Kong's Web3 ecosystem and will prioritize integrating compliant stablecoins into their clearing and settlement systems.
