SpaceX Appoints Crypto Entrepreneur as Commander of Interplanetary Mission
SpaceX has announced that Chun Wang, co-founder of F2Pool, will command its first crewed interplanetary Starship mission. The mission is designed to test the capabilities of the Starship V3 architecture and will include flybys of both the Moon and Mars.
The flight plan will take approximately two years to complete, with a circumlunar flyby followed by a high-altitude flyby of Mars. The crew will not land on the planet but will instead test systems and collect data during their close approach.
This mission marks a significant milestone for private space exploration and the growing involvement of the crypto industry in ambitious ventures. Wang's appointment as commander signals that individuals with experience in high-risk, capital-intensive activities such as cryptocurrency mining are now being considered for leadership roles in space exploration.
