Wan Highlights Human and Operational Issues in DeFi Failures

Dovey Wan, co-founder of Primitive Ventures, recently shared her thoughts on the state of the DeFi space in an interview.

According to Wan, the recurring failures in DeFi are not due to architectural flaws but rather human and operational issues. She pointed out that key management failures, social engineering, single-point-of-failure design, and developer complacency are common denominators across incidents.

The structural mismatch between DeFi's permissionless and composable nature and the average user's lack of technical capacity to verify code is a major concern for Wan. She believes that this mismatch has led to composability being a contagion vector under stress.
