DeFi Protocol Resolv Hit by $25 Million Stablecoin Exploit

A major vulnerability in Resolv's USR stablecoin minting system was exploited on Sunday, causing significant market disruption across several interconnected DeFi platforms.

The attacker deposited 100,000 USDC into Resolv's USR Counter contract and received approximately 50 million USR in return, which is roughly 500 times the legitimate amount. The attacker then systematically swapped the fraudulent USR for USDC and USDT across multiple decentralized exchanges before consolidating the proceeds into ETH.

The attack highlighted issues with key management, governance roles, and real-time monitoring in DeFi protocols. Resolv's official documentation lists 14 audit engagements conducted by five separate security firms, but the successful attack shows that even extensive security investments can be undermined by a single operational lapse.
