Solv Protocol, a leading Bitcoin-based decentralized finance platform, has fallen victim to a significant security breach. The attack, which is believed to have occurred through an exploit of one of Solv's smart contracts, resulted in the loss of $2.7 million.
The attacker was able to mint excessive amounts of a token used on the protocol before swapping it for 38.05 Solv Protocol BTC (SolvBTC), a token pegged to Bitcoin. This transaction is estimated to have occurred at least 22 times, with the attacker ultimately exchanging hundreds of millions of tokens for the SolvBTC.
Solv has taken steps to address the issue and prevent similar attacks in the future. The platform has implemented measures to prevent the same vulnerability from being exploited again and is working closely with crypto security firms Hypernative, SlowMist, and CertiK to investigate the incident.
