US Senators Propose Mined in America Act to Shift Crypto Mining to Domestic Production
The US Senate has taken steps to reduce its reliance on Chinese-made Bitcoin mining hardware with the introduction of the Mined in America Act.
The bill, sponsored by Senators Bill Cassidy (R-La.) and Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), aims to create a domestic supply chain for crypto mining equipment and tie it to national security. The legislation would establish a 'Mined in America' certification for data centers, requiring them to demonstrate that they do not use equipment sourced from 'foreign adversaries.'
The proposal also includes measures to support US-based chipmakers and manufacturers in scaling up production of mining rigs and specialized chips.
