RippleX Sees XRP Ledger Agentic Transactions Surge Past 1 Million

The XRP Ledger has surpassed 1 million agentic transactions, and RippleX's head of engineering expects this number to grow significantly in the near future. Ayo Akinyele believes that the network could reach 10 million agentic transactions quickly and potentially 100 million within the next couple of years as AI agent payment infrastructure continues to mature.

Agentic payments involve transactions initiated by AI-powered software acting on behalf of a human user, rather than manual approval. This type of payment has been gaining traction in the crypto space, with companies providing digital wallets for AI agents to make programmable payments on-chain without needing traditional bank accounts or credit cards.

The XRP Ledger is well-suited for this use case due to its technical properties, including settlement times between three and five seconds, predictable transaction costs, and a purpose-built payment infrastructure. This reduces the friction that would otherwise slow down autonomous software trying to pay for services in real-time.
