Tillis Pushes for Fast-Track of Crypto CLARITY Act Ahead of Midterm Elections
Senator Thom Tillis is moving to fast-track the Crypto CLARITY Act in the Senate, according to reports. The bill aims to regulate stablecoins and digital assets in the United States, including rules for issuance, yield, and oversight.
Tillis stated that draft legislative text on stablecoin yield could be released four to five days before a markup, giving stakeholders time to review the proposal.
Analysts have warned that political divisions and unresolved issues could still delay the bill's passage, potentially leading to broader fallout if it fails ahead of the midterm elections.
The CLARITY Act has been gaining momentum, with Senator Cynthia Lummis predicting a markup in May and potential passage by June. SEC Chair Paul Atkins also expressed optimism about the bill's prospects.
